What has been your greatest athletic accomplishment in 2017 so far?
My proudest moment of 2017 is winning the Texas Independence 200 Mile Relay in 20:38:30. I had a chance to spend time with fast runners (women & men) from Dallas, Lufkin and Ft. Worth. It was such a great feeling to know I helped achieve the overall win.
What is your favorite type of race/course?
My favorite type of race is a nice ultra over the mountains. Or the Cowtown Ultra Marathon because it marks the end of my road running season every year.
What are your goals for the 2017 season?
In September I will be racing against some of the best trail runners and hoping to arrive in the top 3. In November, I will be racing the Fort Worth Marathon and will try to be in the top 3. And in December I will be doing a tune up with the Dallas Marathon.
How many races did you participate in during July?
I participated in 4 races in July.
Why do you recover with chocolate milk after a tough workout or training session?
I recover with chocolate milk because it is the only thing I know to have all the nutrients to help me refuel and rehydrate and replenish my body after tough training sessions and races.
When did you begin recovering with chocolate milk?
I started using chocolate milk to recover about 6 years ago.
What is your favorite part of racing marathons and triathlons?
My favorite part about racing marathons is the camaraderie between runners, there is an unspoken language while running. I often don’t get to see the course so I don’t remember many things other runners see, but I do remember the great time I had while running with a pack of runners.
